Description: Here's a rare amethyst glass 1850 original Pressed Loop whale oil lamp made the Boston & Sandwich Glass Co.....It has 6 large raised oval loops around the elongated font....square hollow base with pressed 8 sided stem....early glass wafer joining the font to base....9 3/4"tall....original brass threaded collar (no whale oil burner)....It has one big chip on the bottom side of base & a small chip on top corner of base; several small shallow chips around the underside edge of shoulder loops; no other damage. A shiny clean lamp with no haze. Displays nice. This lamp is pictured in Barlow/Kaiser - The Glass Industry in Sandwich, Vol. 2, p. 89, fig. 2109a....also in Spillman - Corning, p. 220, fig. 853 and color pl. 12.....a very scarce lamp in this natural amethyst color!...THIS IS A FIXED PRICE LAMP FOR SALE IN MY STORE.....
