Included is a facsimile copy of the title page with date for authenticity. Also included is the double sided content page that preceded and explained the subject of the print. H. Shaw's name appears in the bottom left of the print. Henry Shaw (1800-1873) produced numerous encyclapedic works of the era on metal working, architecture and ornament. His Dresses and Decorations of the Middle Ages is certainly a product of the period and influenced by John Ruskin's ideas emphazing craft and art which would greatly influence the turn of the century Arts and Crafts movement. Shaw's work has been considered one of the most beautiful publications of the 19th century that embraces the craft of bookmaking and illumated manuscript of the period, with each print produced by copper plate with hand applied colored and also accompanied by a double sided text page that begins with a multiple colored wood block decorative letter to begin the discussion, this additional page will be sent with the print. Overall a very beautiful print that would frame up well. Size: The entire page measures 7 by 11" (18x28cm) with the image area measureing approximately 4 3/4 by 8 1/4 inches (12x21cm) as seen in the pic. Condition: The print is in Very Good condition for its age, blank on the reverse, with light tonal ageing. It is basically as seen in the pic with no major defects to mention. Overall it is a nice strong impression wtih vibrant handcoloring that would frame up well, see the pic for more on condition. The pics are of the actual print.
