With a replica 'LONDON' double-arcs date-stamp dated 8 / MAY / 1840, again hand-struck, using a replica date-stamp. NOTE: It was proposed to issue the 2d Blue on the same date as the 1d Black, viz. 6 May 1840. However, delays at the printers caused by technical issues with the paper and the printing machinery which meant that the first supplies of 2d Blues did not reach London post offices until the afternoon of 8 May.
