Loring, at the Office of the North Carolina Standard, ~ 1839 ~ ************************************************* 12mo. 39 pages. The pamphlet measures about 8 1/2 inches tall by 5 inches wide. Soft cover pamphlet in original yellow printed wrappers bound in a stiff-board library binder with a cloth reinforced spine. The pamphlet is held in the binding with what appears to be a cloth book tape. The outer boards show some wear but are sound. The pamphlet is secure in the binding. The text is foxed. There is an early inscription at the top of the pamphlet's front cover which is hard to decipher, but it appears to read, "Wm. Jeffreys, Esqr. / With respect of W. Str..(?)..er." We do not know who made the inscription. We believe it was inscribed to William Jeffreys (1817-1845) who was an attorney in Franklin County, North Carolina and who was in the NC Senate. He died of typhoid fever and was buried in a carved-out boulder. We have not been able to figure out who presented this pamphlet to Jeffreys.
