Each seat discussed is accompanied by an illustration, a brief history of the residence and the families that resided there. Illustrated throughout, with an engraved title page and 110 plates, containing 220 illustrations. The plates for volume I have been collated using the contents page present, and has been found to be lacking two plates, or four illustrations. There are twelve plates for the start of volume II totaling only 98 plates from the 100 needed for volume I. Lacking pages 121-124. To the rear of this work, the contemporary owner has included their own hand-written contents for the twenty-four pages of volume II that has been bound to this volume. The pages to this volume all run in a continuous register. It appears to be the entirety of volume I and a portion of volume II, with the signatures running sequentially from A4-3O4. With the pagination ending at page 56 and a prior owner manually entering the pagination to the top of every page. This volume discusses houses in Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Cheshire, Cumberland, Derbyshire, Durham, Hertfordshire, Huntingdonshire, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Northumberland, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Westmoreland, Worcestershire and Yorkshire. CONDITION Rebound, in a quarter morocco binding with cloth covered boards. Externally, very smart with just some minor shelfwear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright. Closed tear to the tail of plate for Corby Castle at page 137, not affecting the image. Small light tidemarks to the margins of several plates, the odd handling marks and light scattered spots to pages.
