Description: A very rare Newburyport MA Theophilus Bradbury table spoon dated 1826. Made for and bearing the crest of the HF&H society, this tablespoon was given as a prize or premium to a winner in some competition. HF&H stands for Hampshire Franklin & Hampden Agricultural Society, an annual fair held in Northampton starting around 1819. The Seal notes the spoon was a premium or prize and it is engraved ECW above Elsie 1830 1890. Presumably, Elsie won a prize around 1830 and this 1826 spoon was given to her as an award. Overall very good condition with minor wear to the sheaf of wheat on the crest, this 8” spoon is an exceptionally rare early piece of agricultural fair memorabilia. Historically important both to the town of Northampton and the town of Newburyport. Buyer to pay $16.95 insured priority shipping within the US or less than 1 pound priority international.
