Matthew Carey was an Irish-American publisher and economist. He fled to Paris from Ireland as a political refugee after publishing various pamphlets criticizing different aspects of Irish life. There, he met Benjamin Franklin. Franklin sent Carey to Philadelphia to establish himself in the States, where he continued to publish and began to find connections within the political community of the developing country. Any issues with the hinges or binding due to age and wear could provide an excellent opportunity for restoration or rebinding, if desired. FORN-ABE-MSB-Shelf-668-jr573
