Description: A very uncommon 1804 medical book in French "Traité de la structure, des fonctions et des maladies du foie, Et recherches sur les propriétés et les parties constituantes de la bile et des calculs biliaires" by G. Saunders, translated into French by P. Thomas William Saunders (1743-1817), a Scottish doctor,was the first president of the Royal Medical and Surgical Society of London. "He was probably the first English physician to observe that in some forms of cirrhosis then called scirrhosity, the liver became enlarged and afterwards contracted" Printed in Paris, chez Goujon,1804. Very good antiquarian condition. Size 8vo (8 1/4" tall) in period hardcover binding - mottled boards and green cloth spine with gold lettering, worn but sound. Inside overall very good with some foxing and light occasional staining .The binding is reasonably right, no loose torn or missing pages, complete with 288 pages. A complete and well preserved 220 years old edition of a medical classic.
