Description: ORIGINAL 17th CENTURY ETCHING After VAN DYCK: PORTRAIT OF SIMON VOUET (French painter, 1590-1649) Etching by ESME DE BOULONOIS (French; active 1645-1681). Signed in the plate, bottom right, and with the inscription in Latinised form. Dates to 1682. Size is approx 18.5 x 13 centimetres. CONDITION. Quite good, with some defects as often happens with centuries-old prints. Trimmed onto/into the image line, text in French to reverse, and laid down on a support sheet. Traces of old glue stains in the corners where it was presumably mounted in an album. Otherwise a nice clear impression. Printed on fairly thin "laid" paper.
