Description: Description: HRH Prince William Henry - Earl of Connaught, 1st Duke of Gloucester and Edinburgh - (November 14, 1743 - August 25, 1805) The younger brother of King George III. Two single page holographic letters signed and dated January 22, 1787, and November 10, 1786. Between 1784 to 1787, William and his wife Maria spent summers in Geneva and winters in Italy. The prince writes from Milan in November of 1786 in part; "Do not be afraid of my visit, for I shall be very little trouble to you, and you know me to be tolerably docile. Yours, William Henry." The second letter is from January of 1787 and written from his home in Naples. It reads in part; "Sir, I am much obliged to you, for your attention in wishing to come to Naples. I should be exceedingly sorry to take you from your first duty and a thing that is so pleasant to you as attending to his Sicilian Majesty." Condition: Two sheets of stationery 14 1/2" x 8 3/4" folded in half with vertical and horizontal creases, toning, chipping to the edges, a few stains and remnants of a paper clip.
