Description: I PLAYED THE FILM THROUGH WITHOUT INCIDENT. I WAS UNABLE TO VERIFY THE QUALITY OF SOUND AS MY PROJECTOR DOES NOT HAVE WORKING SOUND. The film takes up slightly over ten inches on a twelve inch reel. Sorry, but no can is included. Please see the bottom of the listing to learn from where I obtained this 16mm film and the others I will be listing. It has taken me seven years to find a cheap working projector but the sound does not work. I was able to visually confirm a soundtrack on the film but was unable to listen to it. I can not attest to the quality of the splices between trailers. I ran it through once without a problem My projector appears to be running slow so I will not supply times. The films included here, with the exception of the 1953 Joan Crawford film, Torch Song, were released between the mid-1930's and 1941. Some of these can be found on video websites but some cannot. 1- THIS IS MY AFFAIR- Robert Taylor and Barbara Stanwyck (did not think to time this one but I believe it exceeded 3 minutes). I found no version of this trailer online. (PHOTO 1,2,3) 2- THE ROARING TWENTIES- James Cagney and Humphrey Bogart- (PHOTO 4,5,6) 3- SARATOGA- Jean Harlow & Clark Gable (no images of either of the two stars. Basically, Lewis Stone describing how wonderful MGM was for completing the film after Harlow's death.) You can find it online with the beginning being Lewis Stone walking onstage. (PHOTO 7,8) 4- CARDINAL RICHELIEU- George Arliss & Maureen O'Sullivan, Cesar Romero- I did not find this trailer online. (PHOTO 9,10,11) 5- MEN OF BOYS TOWN- Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney- appears to be available online (PHOTO 12,13) 6- H.M PULHAM ESQUIRE- Hedy Lamarr, Robert Young- appears to be available online (PHOTO 14,15) 7- TWO FACED WOMAN- Greta Garbo Melvyn Douglas- the online version I found is not this version (PHOTO 16,17, 18) 8- TORCH SONG- Joan Crawford- This trailer begins with a color Cinemascope intro but the trailer itself is black and white. There is some scratching on the film. This appears to be available in color online. (PHOTO 19, 20) 9- SHADOW WALTZ Busby Berkeley. (PHOTO 21, 22, 23) This appears to be an alternate version without Dick Powell. In addition to the neon violin (PHOTO 22), there is a neat move where the two undulating rows of pianos separate and come together as shown in (PHOTO 23). As I have no sound, I don't know exactly what the soundtrack reflects. This version begins with a view of the stage from behind the cameraman (PHOTO 21 ). This isn't actually a trailer but it was here and it is impressive. (PHOTO 24) is the reel itself. No can included. While I am aware that this film can technically be sent media mail, the majority of USPS employees I have spoken to have no awareness of this and being right does not help me if the item never reaches its destination. I do get a discount off of shipping fees and will refund that difference. I purchased a collection of books and other items from the estate of the owner of a former New York City bookstore named Cinemabilia at 10 West 13th St , run by Ernest D. Burns. It was located in Greenwich Village in the 1970's and 1980's and, I believe, closed down in 1987 (These items have been packed in boxes since 1987). Among the couple of hundred boxes of books were two boxes of films). When his store closed down, he boxed everything up and they have spent the last thirty five years this way.
