16 Photos WW1 Commercial with 3 Original Photos of General Pershing at Bourges

Description: These photos are from a collection of a WW1 soldier who visited several areas near the front on his leave and collected these photos and postcards in the process. They were all in a scrapbook that also includes other photos and postcards of himself and his units, along with other similar postcards and photos of the era. From research and these photos I believe this soldier may have been with the 20th engineers of the 10th battalion, who were involved with forestry. I have listed the entire scrapbook by each page so be sure to check out my other listings. The most important photos here are on the bottom of the first picture. I am fairly certain that these photos show the visit and inspection of the troops at Bourges by General Pershing in 1918. The soldier has other commercial photos in this lot I have listed that refer to this visit, but these appear to be original. One shows Pershing inspecting officers outside with the camp flagpoles in the background, a second is a far shot where you see a lone figure in front of a large truck walking down the street, and the third you see the soldiers lined up in front of the buildings with Pershing and several other officers in front of cars that appear to have ID numbers on them. Original, unique photos of the Commander of the AEF during WW2. The other photos are all commercial, and show various scenes of the war and area including a German camp, the Bourges cathedral, Soissons church, the Hindenburg Line at Soissons, St. Mihiel, an building exploding at Chevoncourt, a large "420" German gun, the German Crown Prince at Soissons, a "British tank disguised by the Huns" at Champagne, a house at Grandpre, and "German entertainment" among others. 16 photos in all, three regular sized with the rest smaller.
