Many excellent articles on the art of jazz record collecting. Lots of auctions of 78 rpm records at prices that will amaze you. Contains the early work of artist Gene Dietch doing many of the covers and the hilarious "cat" cartoons. Letters to the editor by young men and women who went on to become major players in the world of jazz recording and collecting. It was an incredible magazine and it lasted for about 15 years. The first issue was in February 1943 and the last issue was in December of 1957. The magazine continued steadily until the early 1950s when they apparently began to run into financial problems. The issues became somewhat sporadic after that point and the magazine ceased publication in 1957. Some issues may have never been published at all; volume 7 no. 1 for instance was never published. There appears to have been no publication in 1956. Since the earlier issues do not contain volume and issue numbers, it is possible to tell if skipped months were or were not issued. Some months are combined issues and states so on the cover.
