Description: AWESOME ANTIQUE FRENCH TALL CYLINDER VASEhand enameled "Fanchette" a Nick Name of FrancisIF YOU LIKE AN ITEM PLEASE WATCH IT! I OFTEN SEND PRIVATE DEAL OFFERS TO MY WATCHERS! This beautiful piece was made in France in the late 1800's by the kind of dress the lady is wearing. Maybe 1880. It is unsigned and unmarked so I can't tell you who made it. This vase is quite tall and heavy because it is actually lead crystal. These pieces were meant to hold large, long stems like gladiolas and iris. The decoration on the from is of a fashionable woman on a Paris Sidewalk with the name Fanchette underneath. She is wearing a lovely green dress with roses at the waist and she is holding a large fan with trailing ribbons. Fanchette is also wearing a very fashionable hat with feathers and a net veil. Maybe she was a famous dancer of the time. The vase measures 14 1/2" high, 3 1/2" in diameter at the mouth, 2 1/2" wide in the middle, the two rings above the vase are 3" and the foot is 3 3/4" in diameter. This piece rings like crystal when struck and that would explain the weight as well. It will be about 4 pounds when packed. It has no chips, cracks or flea bites, has little running to the gold painted rim and rings, but the base ring does show some rubbing. It has a very good age related wear pattern on the underside.
