Description: We are pleased to offer for sale a fabulous antique French miniature portrait. This large Limoges portrait on copper is finely crafted and detailed and dates from the late 19th century. It is done in the exotic Orientalist style so popular during the late Victorian period. A lovely dark-haired woman is depicted wearing a rich deep red cut and embroidered velvet coat covering her light blue silk gown adorned with draped Muslim fabric. She holds a sitar and stands atop a Persian rug, in a lavish interior. The portrait features rich and vivid colors, some shimmering, the whole very finely hand-painted. The portrait is housed in an elegant gilt ormolu bronze frame done in the Louis XVI-style, with barbola ribbon top and striped silk lining. The frame features one hanging loop. The portrait will make a fine addition to any collection! The item presents well and is in very good antique condition, with minor display wear and patina commensurate with age. The portrait has minor wear and patina, with some minor scuffing around the edges. The frame has minor wear, tarnish/darkening, and patina; the silk lining with light wear. The piece is sold in as-found condition. Please review all photos before purchasing. Dimensions: frame 11-1/8" in height, 7-3/4" in length, 5/8" in thickness; portrait is approx. 7" by 3"
