10 Vinyl LP's all OOP-Various Artists and Labels See Descriptions Below

Description: 10 LP's all OOP(not made anymore or found in stores).....Artists: Ten Wheel Drive, Gayle McCormick(2 LP's), Donna Fargo, Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost, 5th Dimension, Kim Carnes, Madeline Bell, Mike's Murder/Soundtrack, Nancy Sinatra. I am slowly selling off my old vinyl collection as I am older and want to start downsizing everything. My collection used to be huge and now it's down to under 50 albums now. All are in good shape with cover art of varying degrees, with normal shelf wear and all were kept in a dry environment. One of the LP's is a Mono version(Nancy Sinatra) and not stereo. All are now OOP and very few are on CD. 1. Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost(Capitol, 1975). Ruby Starr(1949-1996) was an amazing live performer who had been recording since the mid-60's with middling success. She began to get some notice as an "unofficial" member of Black Oak Arkansas and was featured prominently on their only major hit, "Jim Dandy" which reached the Top 30 in 1973. Starr went solo soon after and her backing band was named "Grey Ghost" and released and LP in 1975 which like most of her work received little notice and poor sales. Ruby Starr died in 1996 of brain and lung cancer.2-3. Gayle McCormick(1949-2017). was a white blues and soul singer from St. Louis, Missouri who was the female lead in the group "A Group Called Smith" and performed on their first 2 albums(A Group Called "Smith" and "Minus-Plus") from 1969-1971. They had a hit single, "Baby, It's You" the remake of the Shirelles hit and went to the Top 5. They could not repeat this success and McCormick went solo in early 1971 and she released 3 critically hailed solo albums which sold poorly. Included here is her 2nd & 3rd albums>>"Sweet Feeling"(1973, MCA) and "One More Hour"(1974, Fantasy). After a 1975 one-off single, which ironically was her only significant hit "Coming Out In the Rain" which went into the Top Ten on the adult contemporary charts. McCormick left the music industry and was never heard from again until she passed away from cancer in 2017 at the age of 67.4. Madeline Bell(1942- ). was born in Newark, New Jersey, USA and had one top 40 hit with the hit single "I'm Gonna Make You Love Me" released in 1968 and her version went to #26, the only single released from the album released on Philips Records of the same name.. She was mainly known a background singer for many artists most namely for Dusty Springfield and had more solo hit records in the UK and other European countries. She left the US for the UK and had more success there than here. She recorded with the UK group "Blue Mink" and performed with various groups. She has released a total of a dozen albums since then and is still alive and performing today.5. Ten Wheel Drive-Brief Replies Feat. Genya Ravan(1970, Polydor). Ten Wheel Drive were a jazz-rock group fronted by Genya Ravan(1940- ) who was a dynamic rock-blues-soul singer who was with the band for 3 of their 4 releases. They were somewhat of an alternative to the extremely popular Blood, Sweat & Tears who were at the top of their game at the time. Lead singer, Genya Ravan(born Genyusha "Goldie" Zelkowitz in Poland) had been around since the early 60's and had formerly fronted the all girl rock group, Goldie & The Gingerbreads from 1962-67 which were the first all girl band to play "rock" and toured constantly but got little respect from the male-dominated industry. The Gingerbreads imploded in 1967 mainly due to disagreements with the direction of their career and Ravan's dominating personality. Ravan then joined "Ten Wheel Drive" and found the sound she had wanted to pursue and lasted with the group for 3 albums, 1969-1971. Eventually, Ravan went solo in 1972 and had a moderately successful solo career as a recording artist and is still around after getting involved in production, and became an independent label owner. For a time she had a channel on Sirius Radio called "Chicks & Broads" which celebrated women in rock & roll. "Brief Replies" was Ten Wheel Drive's 2nd album and contained their only charting hit single>>'Morning Much Better" which reached #74 on the Hot 100. The album itself reached #161 on the charts.6. The 5th Dimension. The July 5th Album(Soul City, 1970)....a long out of print compilation from the ever popular Sunshine-soul group who had many hit singles from 1966-76....This album was a collection of various cover songs such as "Sunshine Of Your Love", "California My Way"(did not chart), "Ticket To Ride", "Let It Be Me" etc...This collection came out in 1970 after the group had left the Soul City label which was formed by singer/songwriter, Johnny Rivers. It was a poor seller reaching only #112 on the Billboard 200....The group is still performing today despite the passing of one of its members and the main portion>>singers Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr. leaving the group in 1975. Occasionally there are reunions. This was finally released on CD in 2023....7. Kim Carnes-Kim Carnes, A & M, 1975).....Kim Carnes(1945- ), yes it is the same singer of the more famous #1 hit, "Bette Davis Eyes" in 1981, had already 5 solo albums prior to her huge hit in 1981 off of her only truly major hit album "Mistaken Identify"(1981) which went to #1 and was a platinum selling album. Carnes had been around since the mid-60's writing songs, and singing jingles until 1971 when she released her first solo record "Rest On Me" which went nowhere. Her 2nd record, her self-titled album "Kim Carnes" also met the same fate but did have a couple of songs which became hits for others..."Somewhere In the Night" which became hits for Helen Reddy in 1976 and Barry Manilow in 1979....and an early version of "You're A Part of Me" which Carnes remade in 1978 and had her first Top 40 hit in a duet with singer Gene Cotton(pop #36). The album has all the song lyrics on its reverse cover...This collection was released on CD in 2023..8. Nancy Sinatra(1940- ). Her hit record "These Boots Are Made For Walking" was a #1 smash hit and took Sinatra who had been recording since 1960 with middling success (except for Japan) into the stratosphere. The single was nominated the following year for 3 Grammy Awards. This record was produced by her long time producer and duet partner(later), Lee Hazlewood and led to Sinatra having 21 additional chart hits for the rest of the 1960's. The parent album, Boots(1966) on Reprise was a Top 5 gold record and is in mono. Sinatra, today is in her mid-80's and still around and over the last few years has been instrumental in re-releasing and remastering all of her music and re-releasing it to a new generations of fans.9. Donna Fargo-All About A Feeling(1973, ABC-Dot/MCA). Donna Fargo(1945- ), a country singer/songwriter who had a major career during the 1970's and early 1980's with a long string of hit records which even crossed over for several singles which also made the pop and adult contemporary charts as well. This was Fargo's 3rd album and her first to miss the Top 200 chart, peaking at just #204, but reaching #5 on the country charts. 3 hit singles were released>>"Little Girl Gone(c/w # 2, pop #57, "I'll Try A Little Bit Harder"(c/w #6, did not chart pop), and "It Do Feel Good"(c/w #7, pop #98). Album is in very good shape with a gatefold cover and excellent cover art. 10. Mike's Murder/Soundtrack(A & M, 1983) was a film released in 1983, that did poorly at the box office, a murder-thriller. The singer-songwriter/composer Joe Jackson(1954- ) was commissioned to do the jazzy-pop music to the this failed film. The soundtrack was a moderate success peaking at #64 on the charts. I have had all of these albums for many years, and most were bought new. The newest is album #10, and thus I have had for 41 years....so most of these are older than that. All play well, might need to do a little cleaning of the records. All show some kind of shelf wear. The Ruby Starr & Grey Ghost album has a plastic cover to protect its contents, the McCormick albums probably have the worst cover grades Fair to G, but the One More Hour album is very rare and HTF. The Boots album is the oldest and was my parents....The Ten Wheel Drive and Donna Fargo albums have gatefold covers....some of these have lyrics printed within the record jackets or covers. Fortunately all play well. I do combine shipping of other items for a reduced price....thank you for reading and looking. FROM A NON-SMOKING HOME
