It holds a cultural and historical significance to all Doors fans worldwide as his last U.S. home. It was open to the public as a widely sought after tourist attraction with the only U.S. mock "grave" for Jim in the Memorial Garden of the courtyard. The property was sold in August 2022 so the property is now permanently closed off to the public as it had been up until the past 20 yrs.
