Description: 1 Of 1 Quincy Jones Vinyl Record Album Personally Signed To Duke Ellington. A Remarkable Jazz artifact from 1960 between two giants of music, Quincy Jones and Edward “Duke” Ellington. A young Quincy Jones penned the following tribute to his mentor, Duke Ellington: “Edward- Thanks for giving the world so much- beauty! Also thanks for showing me the way- Encore, Merci Mille Fois, Ton ami toujours. Fondly, Quincy” The French translates to: “Again, Thank You a Thousand Times, Your Friend Always, Quincy” This appreciative note is written on the inside jacket of the album ‘Around the World’ by Quincy Jones and his Orchestra, from 1960. The album was recently discovered among vinyl jazz albums in the estate of Duke Ellington’s road manager of over twenty years. It is now presented to the public for the very first time. Condition of vinyl is excellent on both sides. The album cover shows some water stains and has a notch/issue on front left side, but overall is in firm, very good condition. The inner record sleeve has tears on all four sides, please review pictures. The autograph is written in blue ink and presents bold and clear. The exception is “Edward-“ It appears Quincy started writing the tribute in light green or blue marker, then copied over and continued the message in blue ink. The item is a monumental vestige to the foundation of music today and going forward, as the influence of these musical geniuses is truly incalculable. It is a museum worthy relic, a remarkable snapshot of an era where much transition was occurring, not only in music, but historic social change, as well.
